Townsville report
Hi everyone,
I've been to Townsville a couple of times in the last Month for uni, and in between field work I've managed to sneak out for a couple of cheeky fishes with a couple of mates. We've fished a couple of times at the mouth of the Ross River and have caught small gt's, javelin fish (they call them grunter), small barracuda and a heap of flatties. We've also hooked two big barra that provided some awesome aerial displays before busting us off (we've only been using 2-4kg gear and the barra made short work of our 8lb leader). I've also been bricked by a couple of unstoppables when I've dared to put a slightly bigger lure on (I've lost two $30 transams in 6 casts to bigggg fish). I've caught most things on squdgies and vibes, the 120mm bloodworm wriggler being the standout lure. I also snuck off to the Haughton River one day with a couple of mates to chase a jack and we got one nice one in amongst a few small trevally, grunter and catfish. Anyway, here are a few pics:
