I'm told here's nice sand whiting flathead and bream in the river, live worms are good bait

Yep river has an abundance of good fishing, particularly flattys. I'd recommend a trip with Noosa River Fishing Safaris, cheaper than the deep sea, and a sure fire bet for a feed. Take you into a few of the back waters of the river where you cannot access and the guide that we had (Chris) was a great fella.

Do your research with any off shore charters, as I've heard mixed reviews.

Where are you staying?
Anywhere on the river will produce bream, whiting and flatties, and if you're lucky, trevally, mangrove jack, tailor, jewies and estuary cod. There are also plenty more species available.
Fishing the surf will produce whiting, dart, bream, tailor and the occasional jewie.

Read the reports on http://www.fishingnoosa.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and read the weekly reports - heaps of good info on there. Also there have been a few threads on Noosa a while ago so if you search you'll probably find them.
Any more questions just ask. :)

Nice one. We caught flathead, bream and trevally on the river. We also hired our own boat really cheaply (from near the Sherarton Hotel) which is worth looking at doing

I'd recommend it. Speak to as many charter groups/tackle shops as you can in the first day of your trip, and find out when the best day will be to fish. Hopefully in the time you are up there you'll be able to find a suitable day or 2
