freshhwater barra

Hi
Had a rest from the boat for the last few days and been on the quad bikes exploring some freshwater lagoons on a island in the gulf...just loaded up some tucker and swags..I went with a aboriginal friend of mine to help get me there..he lent me a quad and I lent him a baitcaster.
These lagoons are very rarely fished(this one with the pic hasnt been fished since 2013) so you think it would be easy to tempt the barra but its the opposite.the lagoons are full of tucker for the barra so they choose when and what you eat.
its really hard to cast lures and really hard to land the fish account your surronded by weed and trees.there was a salty in this lagoon so once a lure was on the trees that was it.i lost 9 lures....3 on trees and 6 on barra.
It was a tough camping out there with the temp not getting much below 20 at night with no wind.
I had some luck on my side and managed to land a few nice fish, most were barra but a few saratoga and some freshwater native fish I have never caught before
you can see the colour of the freshwater barra are very differant to a salt water barra.
all these fish are released so there still good fishing next year.
