Can't help too much as I haven't fished those areas at all, but I'm pretty sure there's a dam in Melton that holds redfin and carp, possibly trout and yellow belly as well? Worth a look.Jacara wrote:Hey everyone, want to go fishing localish this weekend but unclear as to where I am aloud to fish around Melton, Kyeton or Sunbury areas, can someone help? [emoji4]

Re: Where to go? Sunbury and surounds
My son & daughter live in Sunbury and I know he's taken his little ones down to Jackson's Creek a few times. Have no idea where they go to fish or what they've caught in it though, but I'm sure if you go on Google earth you'd find a road that runs near or across it.

If you have a fishing license you are allowed to fish most all waters.
Forget Jacksons Creek though.
Melton Weir hasn't generated any reports for yonks.
There are 3 lakes in Kyneton and all are producing trout.

Re: Where to go? Sunbury and surounds
Hi mate, there is plenty of places in the melton area that produce fish in good numbers:
Melton Weir-easiest place to catch a fish(mainly carp and redfin)
Werribee River-again easy
Darlingsford lake (little more difficult but contains trout)
Navan Park (also contains trout)
Westlake(still holds trout but in smaller numbers)
After all this I suggest you don't go to any of these places and drive an extra 15 minutes to the bay(werribee will do) where you will catch a variety of species.
