Yarra through warburton

Post by ChrisD » Tue Jan 31, 2017 9:34 am

Has anyone got any tips to share for fishing the Yarra through Warburton? Bait fishing more so than lures.
Looking for some new Yarra waters that I have not fished as yet and through Warburton is one place I have passed many time but never tried.

I was up past Warburton on Saturday afternoon/evening. Bring aeroguard. The river was higher than usual and a.bit discoloured - normally it's pretty safe to drink above Warburton but not at the moment.

Didn't get anything but I was using lures and with the water the way it was that wasn't surprising.

I've seen heaps of smallish trout in there in the past and there's probably stacks of blackfish in there as well

I'm heading up this way for Easter and would appreciate any advice on accessible areas. Happy to catch anything, but would prefer trout. Or maybe my first Blackfish?

To be honest, I have barely got out. No luck, just on worms one evening. I still have a couple days left.

Correction! I threw a sp around this evening and managed to catch this reddy @ 27cm. First fish on a sp! Will make a tasty brekky.

Stupid question I’m just starting out fishing coming off dirtbikes, but do other fish take trout pellets?

We are at Warburton, so don't know about Alexandra.
