Buxton Trout
The 4 year old has been asking to go fishing and he's had a few sessions on the nong for just the one hookup so I decided to take him up to Buxton trout and salmon farm at the weekend to really get his enthusiasm firing. Took a mate along too for the ride.
The little man had an absolute ball. Nice relaxed place and he had lots of fun fishing the ponds.
They supply a pre-rigged rod with a simple bobber and hook setup and a bit of bait and off we went. The ponds are shallow and it's easy to Polaroid the fish and he had as much fun just watching them as fishing.
I was happy that it wasn't a fish a cast and it took about 1.5 hrs to catch 4 rainbows. One was put on ice to take home and I had plans for the other three
I'd come prepared with some sides, bit of salad and I'd sneaked a couple of Coronas in for dad and his mate cleaned the fish and popped them on the barbie at the trout farm. Couldn't have been any better really
The little man got to see where his food comes from and you'd don't get much fresher.
Fantastic day out. Beautiful weather, beautiful tasting fish and one happy and tired kid. Hasn't stopped asking me yet when we can go back

Re: Buxton Trout
Thats what our sport is all about, bonding with the kids and teaching them the right way. it's a solid foundation for the road ahead .

Re: Buxton Trout
good work man, always a great day when the kids and family are involved and everyone has a good time.
i remeber my first trip to the farm very well hahaha was a very expensive affair! i only had time to bait the wifes rod. that was the first time she has been fishing ever, needless to say the wallet was a lot emptier when we came back
