Yarra @ Millgrove Saturday 26th

Post by ChrisD » Sat Jan 26, 2019 8:29 pm

Wandered up to Millgrove this evening to see what was biting.
Was disappointed on arrival to find that there must have been a water release from one of the dams upstream as the river was easily up 12inches on the normal Summer level.
Straight away I had my doubts anything would be biting, but after the drive out there I dropped a couple of baits all the same.
1.5 hours in and finally a bite - landed a nice redfin. The first was followed with a second 5 mins later.
The rest of the evening went dead without so much as another nibble.
But a two fish trip was worth the drive......and time spent beside the river fishing is never wasted :)

Only big point of annoyance - was some clowns swimming up river a bit.....the swimming in the river didn't worry me, it was the empty beer bottles that kept floating by that were annoying.

Awesome Redfin, and agreed, any fishing sitting and enjoying the surrounds is never a waste.

we must shop at the same store , , , , I have the same T towels, minus the Redfin unfortunately

Cheers, Bugatti

Good reddies Chris - you are king of catching them in the yarra!

Good old compost worms - they are my go to bait for pretty well every species in the Yarra, from Warbuton all the way to the city.
If I manage to find scrub worms I use them but they are few and far between in the garden.
As always I have tried lures - with Redfin and trout on offer it is always worth a crack - however I am fairly terrible with lures so generally resort back to baits :)
