When you say the golf course area, is that also near a gun club and a remote controlled aeroplane club ?. I'd love the kids to be able to catch and release something before the school hols are over !.

The gun club is not that far upstream from the heritage golf course I've fished the golf course a fair bit with pretty good results and fished near the gun club once with no bites but it was pretty low.

I'd recomend going behind the golf course with some scrub worms, bread or corn. I haven't fished there in ages but most times it is pretty good. Caught some nice Red Fin, Maquarie Perch, Carp, Eels and hooked up to BIG fish and nearly lost my rod a few times because I was sitting further down the bank.
