FAMILY FUN FOR FUTURE FISHERS

Minister for Agriculture, Jaala Pulford, will tonight release 50 catchable-size golden perch into Victoria Park Lake at the Twilight Fishing event to help grow recreational fishing in Victoria.
Twilight Fishing is an iconic annual event that encourages people from all ages to try fishing for the first time and learn more about this great pastime.
Fishing is a major recreational industry across Victoria, particularly in northern Victoria, with access to great rivers and lakes providing fantastic fishing opportunities all year round.
Through the Target One Million plan, the Andrews Labor Government will boost fish stocks, invest in fishing and boating facilities and increase the number of recreational fishers in Victoria to one million by 2020.
The Labor Government will continue to support this wonderful event by releasing 5,000 perch and 1,000 Murray cod fingerlings into Victoria Park Lake each year.
Quotes attributable to the Minister for Agriculture, Jaala Pulford
“We’re providing more opportunities for Victorians to get outdoors and enjoy this great pastime, which contributes so much to our economy and our way of life.”
“Introductory events such as Twilight Fishing are a fantastic way to bring the local community together and grow recreational fishing.”
“Through Labor’s Target One Million plan, we’ll make sure Victoria is the best place to wet a line and invest in projects that promote this great activity.”

Guess they are talking about Shepparton...too bad the catchable size yellas will be eaten by the 80 cm redfin. :dinner: :) I attended this event a previous year....fantastic numbers turned up and no doubt should attend tonight as well. If Dave and myself do not have any luck at the channel tonight we may go and crash this party!
cheers

Might b able to improve ha catch rate mate :P hopefully it turns into a bloody good fishing lake!

Lol at the 80cm redfin!

The fingerlings will b mauled by the reddies almost instantly! They need to put fish in that are above the 10-15cm mark
If I'm not fishing, I'd rather be fishing!

That is what everyone says...about every stocking in every body of water! Enough will survive...that's why they put so many in.
