Forfeited boat met it's match!
Thinking it may be better to sell the thing and get some money and put back into fisheries but as it was modified, apparently not safe for resale!

interesting that they choose to scrap it but I guess they can't risk any legal action should something go wrong.

Think about how much things get sold for at police auctions, usually 1/2 price or less... They would probably make that much just by selling the aluminium scrap.
Besides I think the point is they follow through on their promise of destroying seized boats, which is a good thing, no slap on the wrist!

It's an exhilarating feeling catching a fish
But it's an even better feeling releasing them

Should be more of it happening too, not just in QLD.. make it Australia wide. Sell the trailers & motors for sure and put that money back into fishing., Maybe could also auction most of the boats and only crush the those that have the hidden compartments, that way they can't be used for the same purpose.

well.. destroying modified hull is a good one.. but why the engine... it completely doesn't make sense to scrap something worthy, why not just sell it and fund the stocking...

Qld do this with impounded modified cars. Cars are crushed with all mods no matter how many thousands of dollars in value may be under the hood. It's a big psychological hit to the owner.
