HELP MAKE RECREATIONAL FISHING EVEN BETTER
Media release
Thursday 15 March, 2018
HELP MAKE RECREATIONAL FISHING EVEN BETTER
To help make the popular pastime of recreational fishing even better in Victoria, anglers and divers are being encouraged to complete an online survey to provide feedback on a range of topics.
Victorian Fisheries Authority CEO, Travis Dowling, said the survey would gather information about how often people fish, what species they target, their favourite fishing waters and their opinions on a range of matters, including some size and bag limits.
“Everyone who completes the survey will be entered into a draw for one of 30 spinning reels valued at $239 each,” said Mr Dowling.
“The survey delivers on a commitment of the State Government’s Target One Million plan, which is investing $46 million including $9 million from recreational fishing licence fees, to get more people fishing, more often.
“We are encouraging everyone to get online and complete the survey so we can better understand their views, invest in the right areas and make more informed choices about improving recreational fishing opportunities across the state.
“The Victorian Fisheries Authority has engaged the Australian Survey Research (ASR) to conduct the survey on their behalf.
“ASR is very experienced in the field and has completed similar work in the past for fisheries agencies in Victoria and New South Wales.”
“Victorians who purchased a Victorian fishing licence online in the last five years have been emailed a personal invitation to the survey. If an email has not been received, simply open an internet browser and enter www.fishsurvey.com.au
“The survey will also be available to people exempt from a fishing licence and be promoted via Fisheries’ social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.”
The survey runs from 15 March to 23 April 2018.

Re: HELP MAKE RECREATIONAL FISHING EVEN BETTER
Did the survey. Told them at the end we need less people fishing, not more. Doubt they'll care, I'm fairly certain the whole Target 1 Million thing is simply a scheme to try and stop the Fishers Shooters and Farmers party from splitting off a big chunk of the ALPs nominally working class base

Re: HELP MAKE RECREATIONAL FISHING EVEN BETTER
I asked for garfish slot limit and increase in squid bag limit. Bagging out on tiny squid after long drive is annoying. I asked for 11 limit.

Agree. Ban interstate anglers or charge them double RFL fees. lol4liters wrote:Did the survey. Told them at the end we need less people fishing, not more
