BOATING INFRASTRUCTURE MANAGEMENT REVIEW KICKS OFF
The Andrews Labor Government is set to begin a review of the management arrangements of recreational boating infrastructure in Port Phillip and Western Port bays to help make boating even better across Victoria.
The review, to be undertaken by Deloitte, will hear from recreational boaters, current infrastructure managers, service providers and relevant agencies and will investigate options to improve management arrangements.
Better Boating Victoria is overseeing the delivery of the Labor Government’s boating commitments – including scrapping public boat ramp launching and parking fees – and will release a discussion paper later this year to encourage feedback from stakeholders.
The Port Phillip and Western Port boating infrastructure management review is expected to be finished by April 2020.
It comes as the Government gets on with the job of removing boat launching and parking fees at public boat ramps and upgrading ramps at six priority locations as part of a $47.2 million commitment in the 2019/20 Budget.
Better Boating Victoria is working hard to remove parking and launching fees at all remaining publicly available boat ramps, which now just include Mordialloc and Queenscliff.

Quotes attributable to Minister for Fishing and Boating Jaala Pulford
“We want to make sure we’re managing our boating infrastructure in the best possible way to deliver the best possible outcome for recreational boaters.”
“This review will mean we can look forward to improving boating infrastructure management across our bays for a better experience for recreational boaters all over Victoria.”

Boat ramps should have a rockwall buffer around them for protection like Altona ramp has.
