Mixed bag out im wp and seal rock

Post by smile0784 » Sat Mar 10, 2018 6:46 pm

Went out on the boaut with purple5ive amd his cousin and 1 of my mates.
We started off getting a few squid but couldnt get anymore since the sun come up.
Then we moved to a spot near cat bay to get the end of the slack tide and the pinkies hit hard and fast for 20 mins with 6 being kept over 32cm.
Ince the tide start to run to hard we went for a.drive to the there side of seal rock and got a few flathead, most undersize but 4 were keepers.
After cracking it at the smaller fish we saw some birds flying around and a few diving so we decided to put a few slugs arou d but no joy.

Then then headed in towards the enterence and decided to stop at 1 last spot and fot hammered but reef fish with a lot of keepers and a few more pinkies.
Bass strait was like flat and wp was like ice.

Ended up with mixed bag of 33 fish and 4 squid

Why keep the Wrasse?

Haha I thought the same thing! Never considered keeping wrasse, have always been told they are terrible to eat. What’s the flesh like? Best way to prepare/cook?

Actually on way back from the island now. Looked an absolute treat on bass straight, unfortunately used my fishing tickets for the weekend last night...

Gees guys. Just cause one man dont want wrasse dont mean another cant have em.
I took most of the wrasse home. They will mostly be eaten at a family bbq tommorow. And might curry some later on. Will let you guys know what they taste like.
All fish were cleaned at the ramp. 4 people made short work of the cleaning.

Plastics and metal jigs didnt go as well today. They only wanted bait and squid was the top bait
Plenty were put back. So not everything we caught were actually kept.

Thanks smiley for another great day out. My cousin was so excited about catching so many fish he hasnt stopped talking about it yet.
The bay and strait were almost glassed out during the arvo which made for a great day out.
