Land based Portland kingies

Post by Isaaccc » Thu Dec 28, 2023 9:24 am

Heading to Portland in early Jan- hoping to maybe snag a kingfish off the breakwall if I’m lucky, few questions-
What lures work? I was thinking some natural coloured stickbaits- maybe nomad Madscad or xraps
What would be a good time to go out and what factors effect the fishing the most
Is my gear heavy enough? 5000 reel with 30lb braid, 50lb fc leader and 6-12kg rod?

update your reel to a 10,000 80kg line and catch a few live bait of the wharf Kingies get large around there
