Kingies escape

Post by colnick » Sun Jun 03, 2018 3:50 pm

Good day all,
Members with access to IView might be interested in the lead story on today's ABC Landline program. It deals with the farming of kingfish and provides some detail and vision about the recent escape of hundreds of kingies following the destruction of an aquaculture pen off Hawks Nest, NSW (my home town). Shows some shots of locals slaying the escapees with nothing but a bare hook! Makes you weep.
Cheers, Col.

Yes mate, same one but some interesting background to the project and some reasons for the pen failure. Ropes and nets attacked by foreign barnacle species allegedly introduced in ballast water from nearby Newcastle coal ships. Worth a look if you can get IView or a replay tomorrow.
Col.
