If its as bad as people are saying it might be best to keep it to PMs so another spot doesn't get made public and ruined.

Here in South Oz, Goolwa Beach is our main and closest Pipi location being over an hour's drive away (notwithstanding some quiet small pockets closer sshhhhhh).

It used to be 600 Pipis per person per day. We would make a day of it, BBQ on the beach, spending the day at the township. That one trip gave us a modest amount of Pipis for bait for the year.

Unfortunately, the area got abused by hoarders, selfish gatherers and just people doing the wrong thing , , , , especially collecting loads and loads of them, trip after trip.

Now in SA, the catch quota is 300 Pipis per day with a possession limit of 1200 (which the 1200 is a good idea, but still abused , , , , wife, kids etc makes 4800 , , , , a hidious amount to have).

So with the 300, for most legitimate gatherers, travelling that far is beginning to not pay off, when squid can be used as bait as a substitute.

Cheers, Bugatti
