Rabbit
Heard an old fisherman's tale recently that fresh rabbit is dynamite on pretty much everything. If you have ever cleaned a rabbit, you'll know the meat has quite a smell to it, so it quite plausible I guess.
I'd be interested to know if anyone has had success using rabbit for bait?

Re: Rabbit
I think that the use of a rabbit for bait, might be illegal now, but in the past I think I can recall the old timers using it for bait. As kids we would use it to catch yabbies.Mattblack wrote:Heard an old fisherman's tale recently that fresh rabbit is dynamite on pretty much everything. That's a shame considering that rabbits are considered vermin.... it would have been a good environmentally friendly source of bait
Re: Rabbit
I remember many years ago i bumped into the someone on Cunningham Pier who was using Rabbit and Duck (I think) from his hunting trip as bait.

Re: Rabbit
From Rec Fishing Guide;
"Mammal Blood or offal
The use of berley that contains mammal blood or offal in Victorian waters to attract any species of fish is prohibited. This does not apply to bait pellets that contain mammal blood or offal."
