Hey guys,
Just wondering if anyone has been picking up any squid or mullet or gars around Melbourne at night?
I can only really fish at night because of work so I find it hard to locate mullet in particular at night but haven't been having any luck on any bait sessions. Have been trying everywhere from Black rock to the warmies!
Anyone got any spots or areas landbased that they have been going well for baits? and if youd care to share your techniques too that would be largely appreciated! Im getting sick of going out in the cold and not even being able to collect bait let alone chase some bigger stuff!!
Thanks heaps,
Nick

Re: Mullet and Squid around Melbourne at night
Mullet tend to go off the bite when it gets dark as they are too busy watching their tails. If you want to chase jews during the week, my advice is to stock up on livies on the weekends and keep them alive in a bucket with the help of an aerator. If fishing 2 rods, 3-4 good 20-35cm livies a sesh should get you through. Mullet are tough little buggers and will kick all night long...until they get hit. Make sure you check your baits every now and then though, as a jew can inhale a livie then exhale it without a scale left on it, without you even knowing. Good luck!

Thanks guys!
Appreciate it a lot
About to head out. St Kilda Pier is walking distance from me so that sounds like a good starting point!
