Prawning in Victoria

Post by CremeDeLaCreme » Fri Oct 26, 2012 11:13 am

With summer just around the corner I want to go prawning somewhere in Victoria.

I have never caught live prawns before so I am after suggestions as to where to go, when to go and how to catch them.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Pfffft patience ain't needed, I used to go out for an hour and come back with 5kg in my spots. Will be going again this summer/autumn

Pick your weather, tides and moon phase and you should be ok for a feed.
All you need is a dip net, a good underwater light and a sack to put the prawns in.

I'm not positive, but I can remember yrs ago a pro netter out of lakes told me they don't come past the prom, though I could be wrong.
