Hi everyone i am new to fishing and new on this site too. I have Shakespeare rod with 15 lbs braid. Could you please let me know guys some good landbased fishing spots in Melbourne. Which pier have more chances to hook decent size fish please recommend baits too according to area. I can fish in freshwater or Saltwater just want to start it with some good catch. Would you recommend live baits or lures?

There's a book called the Landbased Guide to Port Phillip Bay which is full of spots and recommendations. Highly recommended for beginners

westernport piers can be a pain for piers due to tide flow, weed, and bait stealing toadies. It can easily put beginners off.
Start off at your nearest one i guess, and dont forget sea walls.

Suggest you try your local or closer piers and work your way around the bay till you find somewhere you like.
Whereabouts are you located?
Also note that decent size fish don't just happen on piers. Lots of small stuff at first and then as the sun goes down bigger fish move in. Some watching does help usually lots of people means fish.
