keen as. the planks on either side of the loose one were sagging slightly when i walked on them. the odd wave was still managing to was over the pier at times too. I copped one when walking up and again on the way back.

the footpath at the rock wall was also ripped up. you can see the concrete slabs in the first two pics

Too right mate, stupidity at its best. There is plenty of loose nuts out there without any matching screws or bolts in their brain. !

Without being there you will not know but it is most likely perfectly safe if you pay attention.

You just have to look at that swell under the pier, it's 'just under the pier' !. That is no safer than rock fishing on a bad day, at least be wearing pfd's on a day like that. There may be a rail there to hold onto , but one big wave can easily wash you over rails or not.

Crazy imo, no fish is worth that unless your life depends on it ( like making a living from fishing ) , even then that's pushing the limits of 'is it really worth it ?'.

Cheers , Rick.

I agree in some regards about not knowing the exact details without being there. It does look a bit 'sus' to me and whilst it may be safe if you are paying attention, I don't think its worth it for some fish if you are relying on your ability to pay attention all the time. No doubt there are styles of fishing that require being aware of your surroundings all the time like rock fishing, but I think there are times when the risk becomes too high it is better left. Spoken by someone who's mind wanders all the time when fishing. :-D I don't have to contend with conditions like this anyway so my lack of concentration really doesn't matter.
cheers
