is it worth having a spin off the beach/rocks?
Was thinking of going down to mount martha beach and rocks and having a spin with some metals. Is it worth it? or is the weather even too extreme for the salmon?
thanks

This is snapper weather. Don't do it, it's too dangerous.

Have a look at the below topic viewtopic.php?f=26&t=10059" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; would be silly to risk it in this weather off the rocks with wind in face, massive swells......

I'd wait until the wind and waves died down a little bit, as it would be hard to cast, plus the waves breaking on the rocks would make it difficult to get close to the waters edge.trewy2428 wrote:Was thinking of going down to mount martha beach and rocks and having a spin with some metals. Just park your car on Hearn road and open your windows. A snapper might fly in.

It's an exhilarating feeling catching a fish
But it's an even better feeling releasing them

  off Martha rocks once it has reached 30 knots SW. Yes, the next day if around 15-20 knots. Looking at the forecast next 3 days still around 20-30 knots. I would wait, even from the beach maybe too rough even though it gets sheltered somewhat from the point.
Good luck if you give it a go. I have fished the rocks before 25 and 30 knots and it is hard work, lots of fun but also a bit dicey. Some good size fish landed though. I don't do it any more. I chase the 15-20 knot conditions now, more comfortable.

It's usually pretty good down there after a big blow so my advice would be to wait until it calms down somewhat.
