Caught a couple of slimies off point cook a couple of months ago.
I'm not sure where you could get them consistently but if I had to guesse
I'd say you would have more success fishing suthern ppb.

Good luck

Ever been sounding along and seen a big blob on the sounder??

Generally in the bottom 3rd of the water column. Thats a bait school, quite often Yakkas. Berley hard using Sabiki rigs or tiny bits of Pillie and you will catch them. They tend to hang around structure in 6-15m of water.

Would love to get the hang of this. I enjoy catching bait fish almost as much as anything else. Am yet to have any luck catching baitfish in PPB. Might give it a crack next time I am out and about.

Only time I've caught slimeys in PPB was on a charter, we had bad luck and only a few snapper and flatties through the whole boat so slimeys were a bit of relief for the captain and crew.

Simple technique - little bit of pilly on a 1/0 hook, only about 3m down. I'd say we were about 1km out from St Kilda pier.
