From my little experience of this region, the fishing in there no pattern, one day firing up like a mad, then days (may be weeks) after that day nothing is biting!!! It is very random fishing over there.
Have you tried the entrance of Yarra river (under the power lines), and also Point cook beach, sometimes it brings some good catches … good luck anyway.

hi negus,
i agree with andoki i've been fishing those areas all my life and definitely no fishing pattern, i am also land based.
best to try else where mate until you find a place that you are comfortable with and produce fish well and frequently.
i like to travel a lot so im always heading areas further.
Geelong has some good spots, also all around the bellarine.

Get out of melbourne somewhat , there is some exellent fishing locations all within 1 to 2hrs drive of melbourne either side . cleaner waters & bigger fish await you :r

E.g Lorne pier , Apollo bay breakwall etc etc ..

Port Melb does @ times take some decent fish , as i spoken about before there's some very good locations most that are barely fished waiting to be explored within 2 hrs drive of melb CBD . :)

I agree with you Miker on going out of the PPB and find get bigger fish and cleaner water

as for Lorne Pier, I found that not only anglers that find it good place to catch good fish, latelly SEALS also are there :) ... it is not a good time for fishing while they there, they rather scare the fish, and even if you were lucky enough to catch one they quickly come and take it off the line from you SADLLY!!!!

However, you guys still need to go out of PPB and try your luck
