Patterson River - run out tide

I have generally only fished the Patterson river on the run in tide, and once it turns I pack up and head home.
I am not sure why I started doing this - just one of those habits I guess.
Just wondering if anyone has fished the run out tide and if it makes any difference at all?

I've never really managed to crack that place open.

I fish the mouth at balcombe a fair bit. tide seems largely irrelevant compared to dawn/dusk.

depends where in the system you are fishing but for me I've found 2 hours either side to be good. assuming you're baitfishing the only change i used to make when the tide turned was to cast at the otherside of the structure if I was fishing to structure

Sorry should have mentioned that I was bait fishing - still haven't built my confidence to get the lures out on a regular basis.
I mainly fish between the bridge and the boat ramps, sometimes a little further up from the last ramp.
Find it is very hit and miss but is about the most accessable Bream location within 45mins of home.

It's a hard nut to crack that system.. I caught a flathead on the run out tide..

Best to search the threads for some blokes who do ok there.
Me personally I've tried there a few different times and different setups but had no success so I don't fish it anymore.

My first few trips there went really well - 5-6 bream each session - seems it was complete luck over skill because since then if I can manage one for a session I am wrapped.....but more commonly I donut there.
Not quite willing to give up on it as yet - but many more zero trips and I think I might have to admit defeat and look to new bream waters

Try the Yarra or Maribrnong, you will get onto a lot more fish and when fishing for bream, I have always found that live bait will outfish all others

Top of the tide. half hour either side.

Bites drops away pretty quickly outside of this.
