I love it when the summer fisherman put their boats away for winter !
Port Phillip in winter has produced some superb days for me, yes its harder going, no you wont always bag out and less congestion at the ramps.
rodders, send me a p.m with your number

Decent big snapper around docklans port melb
Yeah Corio Bay is nice and protected especially in those SW winds. I launched off Limeburners last weekend and got plenty of mostly undersized pinkies off eastern beach. Found a large school of salmon but they were small fellas. Did some catch and release and moved on. Tried around the moored yatchs as well but only got a few flatties. Still a nice day out on my little 4.6m tinny.

For me its about the boating more than fishing...im out as much as possible all year...if i catch its a bonus..westernport is more accessible for me but carrum is 2nd option as tides dont always work when i can

Gotta love the quiet ramps and not having many boats in spots u want to fish. There are still plenty of fish about, you just have to shift spots, species and tactics.

I still working winter out myself, but the rewards are definitely there for those dedicated enough to keep going out

An update. Managed to take a mate out recently for a soft plastic session off Altona. Not many pinkies but the ones we did catch were a good size. Ended up with 8 squid too. Not bad for winter and close to home. Water temp was 13 degrees.

The weather was cold but little wind and yes the boat ramp was quiet!

Very nice pinky, beautiful colours on it.

They're still around in some places, I am surprised how many have been taken land based even recently. I got onto a few the other night
