The nong 14-01-17

Post by Kenle » Sat Jan 14, 2017 12:57 pm

Fish the nong this morning from 1am-6am using yabbies, managed 4 keepers " 30cm, 33cm,34cm and 35cm". Lost a massive run as usual with the big one that always gets away. Also landed and released 9 small breams which was still fun on 4lb braid n 6lb leader, conditions were glass like water surface with no wind on the full tide, with the near full moon just above me. It was perfect

Nice fish and report mate- sounds like a prime time to be fishing. Do you think the one that got away was something other than a bream?
I could see heaps of small bream holding the edges at high tide when fishing it recently- there must be a healthy population.

There is always the legendary mulloway that everyone dreams of hooking in there, but on my last session in that same spot in the nong i did land a 35cm pinkie that fought like a demon on 4 lb braid. I did notice at night that there is big schools of poddy mullet doing there laps on the surface, there is definately plenty food for predators in that river.
