Queens Birthday Fishing

Post by fishhead » Tue Jun 14, 2011 10:33 am

When to Barwon Heads Sunday morning 8.30am on high tide chasing breams. using running sinker rig with our favourite bait (worm), it wasn't long before we landed our first bream. Caught most of our fish by 1pm, then it got a bit quite.

Caught:
14 x breams (28-32cm). Threw back at least 10.
Also caught some kg whitings & mullets.
2 x big salmons & 1 trevally (41cm)

We when home at 3pm. As we walked to the car, we checked out other anglers. Saw they were catching quite a trevallies & salmons.

So, we return to Barwon Heads Monday morning at 7.30am. using chicken & beef marinated in 5 spice curry powder and posternoster rigs, we landed 2x large trevallies & 11x big salmons by 10.30am. We when home and celebrated Queens Birthday. Still got the hang over this morning.

We were fishing on the bank of Barwon River at the end of Sheepwash Rd.
Normally we ventured further into the river for breams.

Hi Troutman,
Once I was fishing next to an angler who was pulling up 2 salmons at a time. Even pulled up 2 trevalies on 1 rod.
He was nice enough to share his secret. Said you can use any curry powder, chicken or beef powder stock or any kind of powder spices you can get your hands on. Just mix in with your bait pieces. Once your bait hits the water, all the flavour disperses attracting the fish to your hooks. It really does work. give it a try.
