Hey Mate
Loved the report and bad luck on losing the fish. I too many years ago in my 20's at Frazer Island was nearly washed off the rocks trying to land a big Spanish Mackerel got cut up really bad learnt my lesson from that day that there will always be more fish but one risk can be devastating, no fish is worth risking ones personal safety for.
I'm sure you land that big one soon, best of luck and stay safe.
