Where to fish?
Hi guys, just wondering where to go for a fish, I heard Altona is a good spot right off the pier, can anybody confirm this?
If anybody has some good spots from St Kilda down to Weribee it would help em out a lot and on the shore as well.
Cheers. Mainly looking for some flat head, snapper and garfish. Planning to go out this monday or tuesday.
Cheers.

hay bigharry welcome to the site mate..
Ive fished altona couple times ( landbased ) and sometimes its hard to get a really good spot cause its always packed with people..
you can get some good bream down near werribee boat ramps too.. if you can travel abit theres always some gar or mullet action on mordialloc

Re: Where to fish?
Cheers mate.
Thanks for the information, hopefully I can get a fish or two. Mordialloc is a bit of a problem seeing as I have no car at the moment, just going on trains at the moment, otherwise I'd have a bigger range of areas.
I'm planning to be at Altona by 6-7 am so hopefully I can get a decent spot. What sort of fish are swimming at altona?

Re: Where to fish?
Hey mate
I don't fish at altona pier anymore because of the crowd.
But I do sometimes go off altona boat ramp. I go off the rocks there and most if the time come home with a feed. There's 2 Rock walls, go on the longer one if your interested.
Not many people fish off the rocks. But the boats can be a little noisy.
Good luck

Many years ago in the early 80's , one of my mates younger brother when he was approx 9yo caught a true 20 pound Snapper off Altona pier .
