Who are you disagreeing with never mentioned Red but I agree he is a good angler.

Danger should stick to footy and leave the fishing media to fisherman.

Agreed

He should also leave the footy media to people actually in the media.

Disagree with you there...he's just working hard on a contingency plan for after footy. I'm sure he could do the talking circuit/buy a pub/etc etc, but he's chosen a career path that's also his passion...cant imagine it's the best choice financially given his potential options, but doing something you love for a job is pretty hard to beat. I'm hoping these guys are as influential to my kids as Rex Hunt (Yibbida-yibbida) was to me in the 80's.
Must be bloody hard working in the fishing media industry....the tall poppy syndrome is rife (guess everyone thinks they can do better!)

I really like the format in which I can post reports here without having to run my own blog. If you sift through enough of the garbage that gets posted there are still really high quality discussions and reports.

This conversation comes up pretty much every winter. Snapper season is on us and the reports will start soon, then once the days are a bit longer and the weather more agreeable the landbased guys will start doing trips and posting long reports again.

Fishing landbased in the winter in Melbourne is boring to do and even more boring to write about. It's either 'hooked some salmon at Gunners' or 'got squid today'. There are only so many times I can post "got 6 squid at mornington this morning" without everyone, including myself, getting bored.

Fishing pages on facebook are basically a cancer. Either there's 300 people tagging each other in every post and chasing reports or dumbasses who think they know about marketing putting up a fish they caught a year ago with a message of 'good luck to everyone fishing today' or some other relentless dribble.

Think you hit the nail on the head Dougie
I know I personally don't get out much at all over Winter and therefore have no report to provide.
But as the weather warms, the water level in the Yarra lows and slow, and the days get longer - I will be able to get out more and reports/tips/observations will follow

That and until a week ago we'd basically had two months of soul crushing NW winds that make fishing anywhere on the East side both extremely difficult and uncomfortable.

Theres no Tall poppy syndrome from me as it's just fishing I think Danger is a brilliant footballer just not a fan of him as a fishing presenter etc. Guess theres a reason I prefer to watch Fishing Edge, Youfish, The Ultimate Fishing Show and Al McGlashans stuff amongst others over some fishing shows it's what individuals want I suppose.
