well I've been fishing for a while with my dad but haven't been able to catch anything so I guess I'm targeting any salt/fresh water fish but really want to catch a flat head
Let's start with your budget. How much you're willing to spend?idkidkidk905905 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 17, 2022 11:20 pmany suggestions on what fishing rod combo i should buy to use soft plastics? i'm new to fishing so i don't know much

A light graphite rod is nice that can range from $50 up to $500+
The reel is generally lighter as it goes higher in price.
Note, though lighter and stronger, graphite rod can break easily if not handled properly. While fibreglass rod is heavier, it's almost 'unbreakable'.
This Sienna 2500 Quickfire 2-4kg combo is a good beginner combo (for the price) to lure fishing with graphite rod.

A braid line will be perfect, but takes some time to get use to. Can get wind knot etc. Once you're use to it, it's generally better than mono line for what you do.idkidkidk905905 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 18, 2022 12:21 pmmy budget would be $130 so I guess it'll work:) what would be a good fishing line to use? or should the stock one be fine? i'm using the zman grubZSebb wrote: ↑Sun Sep 18, 2022 5:55 amLet's start with your budget. Assuming landbased for the usual bread and butter species.
8lb or 10lb braid will do and fluorocarbon leader.
