Hello dizzy,
I've fished Kilcunda many times. It is great for salmon at this time of the year,
It will get better though once winter sets in a little. I fish through the run in tide and the run out with blue bait or fresh pillies.
Always use burly as it helps attract fish into your fishing spot. What I usually do there is put out a large onion bag filled with pellets and tuna oil or any fish scraps and attach it to some long rope and put a rod stake or large stick in the sand to hold it.
It should wash around in the surf and attract salmon.
Surf poppers also work great with abit of pipi or squid on the hook, also look for gutters in the water were there is wave action and darker deeper still holes. Good luck man!

Killy is awesome I carry some pellets and walk the beach throwing a few pallets into gutters as I go. The pub isn't bad for a beer and if you need something to smoke plenty of the local fishos will help if you know what I mean  .

I have fished it a few times over the years parking at the cemetary and walking over the dunes. I have caught snapper there on the right side near the rocks you also have the choice of the powlett river outlet just a few k,s down the road.
I bought a collapsible berley bag from rigmaster tackle I use in the surf
