I feel bad for him.... I think all that burleigh I put in drifted into Bass straight and pulled all the snapper into WP before he even had a chance...

Good work mate, great fish and well done!
Regarding the banter and people voicing their opinions, Don't let it discourage you. It's easier to skip past it than to let it bother you.
Cheers, Anth

Re: WP - Snapper Hunt 5/9
That is one of the best reports I have ever read.
I was on the edge, wanting to know how it turned out
When it was too big for the net, I thought oh no, not lose it at the boat
Great read

Bloody oath. They’re the ones you want. It seems that 90cm/8kg are generally the biggest people seem to get in WP and ppb. Are there many bigger ones around? Or are they more offshore?

When I read it I enjoyed it too one thing I have found is big red make a last run when boatside I find it better to attempt the net shot after instead of getting over eager as hooks can easily be dislodged.

Cheers Tex.
I had similar thoughts.... but just tried to keep a cool head, take it slow and not spook the fish. Most the fight had left the fish which was certainly in my favour at the time.
But alas, I have already got myself a new net capable of something even bigger.........

Re: WP - Snapper Hunt 5/9
From what I've seen anything 4-6.5kg is a nice fish, 6.5kg-7.5kg is a good fish, 7.5kg-8.5kg it's a stonka/horse, 9kg's and you have hit the elusive 20lbs snapper mark.
I believe they can be found in WP.... but not on my hooks (yet).
