Eastern entrance squidoodles

Post by ducky » Sun Oct 20, 2019 7:10 pm

Spent a few days last week at Silver Water Resort at San Remo. As an aside I’d highly recommend it for a family getaway. Bloody cheap on Groupon at $95 per night.

Got out fishing a couple of times. Launched new haven Tuesday morning with my brother in law, nephew and my son. Shot up to reef island. Water was filthy. Had a squid on in 5 mins but then nothing for 90 mins. Decided to shoot down to Cleeland Bight. Got down there and had a great feeling. Seeing bottom in 7m of water. Crystal clear and dead flat water.

Got the jigs out and just donged them, Rui red capsicum in particular. They came in 1 after the other. Pulled the pin after a couple of hours and headed back to the resort for dinner.

The plan for Wednesday was to launch. Head down south again for whiting on fresh squid. Got fresh squid no worries but couldn’t get the whiting to fire. Ended up just grabbing a few more squid and calling it a day.

Kept the sessions short and sweet with the kids on board but that didn’t stop us getting some wicked sized squid. A few were stuffed and cooked on the Weber. The rest Have restocked the freezer

Yeah the kids loved it. Got a few brutes on a Jarvis Walker Guppy Rod and reel combo haha.

Kye now has a new PB. 42cm hood on the cast completely on his own. Not bad for an 8 year old lol

Ducky, that's one big squid
Thought you were using the straight arm pose, but, could only fit one at time on the bbq
The kids would have been wrapped, I would have been
The only thing is you forgot to mention is your address & meal times
Well done

That’s my brother in law FYI. Not me. His Pb squid of 46cm. (First time out proper fishing)

The boat is a 15 footer so we all have to wear them.

A seafood paella. Flatty, prawns, scallops, peas, capsicum, rice. Etc.

Recipe is on “Fat Cuts BBQ” on Facebook and insta. Between that and hunting it’s destroyed my fishing career over the last year or two
