Yep. Why keep something to find out these days. Quick pic on the phone then find out what you caught

I did make that assumption also.

Fair comments guys. I totally agree with you. We thought it was a mulloway at first and thats why we kept it. It wasnt until this morning that i found out that it wasnt a mulloway. I didnt take the photo for identification purposes, and yes it is a poor photo. We are fairly new to fishing salt water. But i will definitly take the comments on board. Thanks again.

If you thought it was a mulloway it should have been released, as mulloway min size is 60cm!!!
When I got time,
I wet a line cos Im a junkie,
been fishin since a kid,
I like it cos it numbs me..

It dosen't look like a 2 foot long fish to me :!: Also I don't fish saltwater much either but I make sure I know the bag & size limits with an up to date book from the Dpi. I'm not having a go at you mate but it looks nothing like a jewie not even close

Yep. Hard to understand why you'd keep a fish without knowing what it is. Could've been a protected species you kept.

Wow, poor blokw\e is just showing off what is a great catch, and they are actually very good eating, much better than salmon and crap like that.
Well done bud

The issue people have is the fact that he was not aware of what it was...therefore uncertain as to applicable size limits etc. I'm sure he won't make the same mistake again! :)

If it was a whole bucket of unidentified fish kept, I'd be concerned, but one specimen is hardly an ecological disaster, given that there are no threatened species in this size range in PPB (are there?).
