There are multiple species of leatherjacket around PPB and WPB. Around the mount Martha through to rye you'll get chinaman leathers like the one pictured, whereas around flinders you'll get the toothbrush leatherjacket which are more blue and yellow. Most common things are that they all steal your bait and are crazy aggressive. They live around structure and reef and will hit almost anything except for hard bodies. They all eat fantastic and super easy to strip and fillet. Watch the spine on the head as well as the anal spine when handling them. Also, they make fantastic snapper bait!
If you want to target them, light paternoster rig with small longshank hooks. Pop a piece of pippie or prawn on there with a bit of squid to keep it on and it's like crack for them haha
