Slippery fish

Caught last night in the lower Yarra. Anyone here know what it is ? I think it's ling, it was 45cm long.

Yep Ling, good eating but would want to keep much smaller than that.

Toygtr, Just saw your ling on the other post, it's BIG! Would have been hard to hold still for a pic if it was anything like mine, all slimy and slithery.

How big do they get?

Think they can up to a meter or something like that. Not really a common fish to get, a lot of people mistake rock cod for ling and take them home to eat.

Thanks all, always nice to catch a new species. If I had a marine tank I would've tried keeping it, the markings are quite nice.
