Fish ID from Black Rock

This fella was returned to the water:

Very slimy and "flabby" to touch.... and caught out from Black Rock?

Is it some type of Rock Cod?

Correct, it is a Southern Rock Cod.

Good eating. Dont't know how to target them. Only got the odd one as a bycatch on prawns. What bait were you using?
