Fish ID
While in Cape Bridgewater last summer I did a fair bit of rock fishing.
The area was covered with rockpools and I was catching plenty of wrasse, ting and salmon off the rocks.
While fishing, I occasionally saw this one fish that I could never get a good look at.
It was very fast, about 60cm-80cm in length and seemed to be dark in colour.
It seemed to be chasing schools of baitfish but it was very timid as I very rarely got a good look before it swam off quickly.
I know I have only given a brief description of it, but I've been getting more and more curious about what it is.
A few fish that come to mind are -
- Small jewie
- Butterfish (dusky morwong)
- Large Salmon
Anyone got any ideas?

It wasn't thin enough to be a pike.
