Gurnard exactly which variety I cant make out from the pics.
They are all pretty good eating just a pain to clean with quite a few bones.
anyone know what this is?

Its a ruddy Gurnard. Here's a pic of what they look like underwater. They are quite common I see them often as a diver round southern end of the bay.

These are true gurnards. The "bulleye" gurnard or "perch gurnard" is a member of the scorpion fish family. "Scorpaenidae"
