Re: What is this???
True ! , but I honestly didn't read what anyone said until after I posted , just good to see that someone else thinks it the same fish also.Fishn104 wrote:Lol but that's what I said!!!!
To me , the long nose tenticles gave it away as some king of catfish straight away , and with the eels kind of tail ; I gathered it was some kind of eel tail catfish. A quick Google confirmed this.
There is a few varieties , I've never caught one of these ones , it almost does look like a cross between a trout and an eel.
I've only caught the fatter , shorter black eel tail catfish.
Cheers , Rick.

Re: What is this???
I've caught a few like these before in the Yarra around Warrandyte. Look the same as yours.
I bought them home and put into my fish tank.
I identified them as Oriental Weather Loach.
Very strange creature as they get crazy active when a low pressure systems moves in and when it stormy/thundery, I always had to check the lid was on the tank as they would jump out.

That's interesting how much the barometric pressure effects that fish, does it also get very hungry during this time , or does it not feed ?toygtr wrote:Very strange creature as they get crazy active when a low pressure systems moves in and when it stormy/thundery, I always had to check the lid was on the tank as they would jump out.

Weatherloach, a noxious pest here but common in aquariums in Asia.
