Wonthaggi, “needed” a quick replacement rod.4liters wrote:Which store did you get it from?mpharris66 wrote:$50 “no name” ... so I guess I won’t be doing that again. I would have had better service at K-Mart. I took it back to where I bought it from and the guy said he’d never carried that brand before and tried to make out I was outright lying. I showed him a photo I took of the receipt... he shut up pretty quick. He said he needed to give it back to his supplier for “investigation”. That was 6 weeks ago and still haven’t seen my $50. :down:smile0784 wrote:What sort rod was it?mpharris66 wrote:Will do, I’v had hookups at Kilcunda a few weeks ago but all 3 times lost my line. The last one broke my rod. I’m far more prepared this time though. 80lb braid main/70lb leader/mustard circle hook+rated swivel and chicken chunks! Never caught Gummy before so it’ll be interesting if and when I do. Cheers.

12ft surf rod, 30lb braid, 30mono with running sinker and 50cm trace (110lb coated ss) No8 circle hook. Should I drop down hook size? Should I change it all!?mpharris66 wrote:Lightningx wrote:How you rigging at the moment?mpharris66 wrote:Is there a better option for rigging for gummy or doesn’t it particularly matter? LB for me.

**** off the SS trace and use about 80cm to 1m of 60lb mono(I use black magic supple). You can continue with the 8/0, I used to use them with good results, though I do change down to a 6/0 landbased in Western Port now and keep the 8/0 for true surf beaches like the 90 Mile or Gunnamatta/Portsea.

Grantville pier last night, high tide was like a millpond. Full moon, fresh yabbies... not one bite. WTF! I’ll reload Sunday but seriously?!

Hopefully better luck next time. I know the feeling when you don’t even get a bite...
