Gunners first timer

Post by silly salmon » Wed Sep 26, 2018 7:22 pm

Hey guys,

Hoping to go surf fishing Friday morning at Gunnamatta beach. Is it still a good time to get onto salmon? Is a 9ft Shimano shorespin enough or should I be using a 12ft rod? Any other advice you can give about best time, weather etc. Also open to suggestions for other beaches that are a better chance.

Cheers

Hi mate. Gunnas is good when wind is N or NW NE. If its any other it can be difficult and you'll need heavy sinkers. I've done good there mostly in mornings. Go down steps and walk left to you find gutters. Others on here will have better advice also but I know winds need to be aligned

Are you going to be using bait or walking along the beach and spinning?

Not a nor wester. That is coming straight down the beach, right to left, 5hithouse to spin in.
North, nor easter, round to almost easterly is the go.
Just wander down and chuck a slug around, it isn't rocket science fishing tbh.
9' rod is perfect for spinning.
