I know I'll be ridiculed, but my brother and I saw one off Brighton as well.... wasnt huge, but was certainly there (early November last year)

It wouldn't surprise me at all, 2017 (or the year before) there were a couple Sword caught off the East Coast of Tassie, water temps up by 1.5 degrees and there's been a warm current right along the East Coast of Australia down to Tassie from time to time..

Tassie have had a good sword fishery for a while the east Australia current runs there.

There was a news not long ago of sunfish washed on beach in black rock. Google it, should find a news or two.
