Great work both of you. will have to get out and give it a crack in the bay soon.

whats the difference in catch rate between the busted and a normal slug in the same weight?

We both used a Busted 45 from Frank at https://www.bustedfishing.com/?store-pa ... -c19434019

Just curious do you use a leader or tie the lure straight to braid ?

Last night there probably wouldn't have been much, though the normal slugs don't cast as far as the busted does. Fishing side by side with ppl using gillies baitfish and raiders, we have out fished them easily, but that could be the extra distance we cast or the speed we retrieve.
Then there are days where it is the opposite We only use the busted lures now(have done since Matari's first trip a cpl yrs ago and generally never have an issue with getting a few.

I've rigged them with an FG to about 70 to 80cm of mono leader, then a clip to the lure. Leader knot is always kept outside the tip guide when casting.

Thx Brett ... does the breaking strain thickness and length of the lead restrict your cast ?

Yes, I've smoked a few smaller ones and they were OK but I'd only resort to that if I couldn't rustle up something tastier. Likewise with the fish cakes. Up here in my neck of the woods I can readily catch something more palatable to make fish cakes out of. My wife says " don't you bring home another bloody salmon" - so I don't!

I forgot to add that they make a great berley for beach worms, but you only need one for that and I can leave it for the local dingoes when I'm finished.
