Golden Beach 18/10-21/10

Big Swing and a Miss Fishing Wise...

Headed down for a boys weekend all eager to get into the surf and some fishing with 3 days of good weather and three nights of full moon action on paper was perfect fishing weekend. End result far from it.
By the end of the trip had caught a total of two decent flatties, one baby leopard shark, slight much bigger leopard shark and waaaaay too many crabs.

Fished from sun up to sun down basically for three days and not much to show for our efforts.
I've got a feeling the water may have been a bit too cold for any action, am I right in thinking this?

With the fish not biting all that too often gave us all a chance to have a few brews and talk a bit of bull as we guys do.

Cheers

Salmon like the cold, pretty surprised you didnt get much.
You should've gone to lorne instead if it was a fishing trip, mate went over the weekend and caught plenty of salmon and a few trevally too.

Is there a way to find out when the trawlers are going to go past like a schedule or something or they do what they want?

I used to fish golden beach a fair bit and was told by locals that the trawler wasn't even suppose to be that close to shore hence why they trawl a night. Not sure if the information I was given was correct but should be illegal anyway for the trawler to be working so close to shore.

Yes you are right dave they are not supposed to be in that close but they do it anyways, their profits far outweigh the fines they receive  there is also a stretch along paradise beach they are not supposed to fish but they do it anyway its pretty hard to stop really

Yeh I was told that a trawler came long from a local as well, that really grinds my gears.
