Good work of getting on to a carp Gav, even better your missus getting a cod. The lack of carp and members at Coburg made for a dull day, but you still have your eel to talk about

It was good to meet up with the members who were there, cheers davo
It's an exhilarating feeling catching a fish
But it's an even better feeling releasing them

Made it down briefly. Good to meet some forum members today. After no bites we headed to more promising waters closer to home and got snapped off by a steam train. After that we saw plenty of carp but none were taking the bait. Just one of those days!

That was your mistake...should have claimed it yourself! :) Thanks for buying the rod!
Whilst the day was not that well attended, by the end of it I was rather glad it worked out that way. I had the guilts as it was that the fishing was not that brilliant. The bird life made it difficult...whilst the ducks have been a problem at our other 2 meets here, it just seems to be getting worse. I ended up using a running sinker that ran right down to the hook to keep my bait on the bottom...away from the ducks. Whilst many successfully use this rig in other locations, It is not what I wanted to use on the day.

After Dave left around 2pm, I packed up and then just sat with Fish-cador and Merv (Sebastian) for a couple hours, Not too mention Cam (SFP Guy) who arrived as well. I do enjoy the social aspect. Big Gav lead the eel slaying (C & R slaying anyway) in the morning, Sebastian took over his role in the afternoon. Not one carp was landed. I will not be organising any more sessions at this location. I'm not too fussed about the attendance (thanks to the ones who did go...charchi and the other member who did not know his username), just that the ducks have made it too difficult to fish. If anyone wants to organise a meet, then go for it.
cheers

Try arranging a duck hunt next time. May be the carp will make it difficult to catch ducks.

Sorry Jim, I was gunna,but I didna..(health & weather, put me off)
I pictured "Big Gav" as a "Rod Bender" body style.
I can only assume his more a "John Holmes" style.
Cheers

Yeah the ducks were a pain! It's one of those (duck feeding) lakes though.. All good there's plenty of lakes holding big fat mud marlin! Mill park lakes is one of them and access is a treat!
