Hi-De-Ho All

Post by mikeski » Thu Jun 19, 2014 5:47 am

Hi All, Just a little about me.

I have been fishing since I was 4 or 5. That was the early 60's.

I enjoy most any kind of fishing although my stomach is not a real fan of small boats on big water.

Living in North Carolina USA the water is warm/hot and the fish meat is soft and maybe half cooked? So I throw back about everything I catch. I do keep the occasional fish for dinner. Trout when fishing in the mountains or White Perch when fishing up in Maine.

I have been making a trek to Forest City Maine the last few years to fish. The lakes there remind me of my early days of living and fishing in Michigan. Nothing like fishing in clear water compared to the clay stained water of NC.

When in Maine I checked out fishing with a guide for the first time. We had an excellent time and have used this guide a few days over the two weeks. It's especially good for my 76 year old mother that I take with us. She has always liked to fish and enjoys this time immensely.

Outside of fishing I love working on my 1974 Triumph TR6 and of course driving it about. I have played with tube audio rebuilding a few tube amps and playing records through them.

You can see a little of this at themikeski.com. It would have been mikeski but that was being squatted on by someone. So, The Big Lebowski and The Dude led me to themikeski.

Happy fishing... Mike....

Thanks Jim, I did happen to think about a few things to add.

I especially like fishing with light tackle. On my fresh water gear I use light and ultralight spinning tackle with 6 and 4 pound test. I have a couple level wind setups for worming and such and that is medium with 12 pound.

Fly rods I use 3 and 4wt when trout fishing in the mountains. Then 4, 6, 7 and 8 for lake fishing. Guess I should get a 5wt ;-). The size on the lake depends on what I am trying to throw.

For shore fishing I have a few different setups for this. I am looking at checking out fly fishing at the shore also. That should be interesting.

Sure, I can do that.

I picked up a Sony HDR-AS100V action cam a month ago or so. It was my first attempt at using it on the water. The brim of my Tilly hat was in the way a bit.

The water was way up from a big rain and was up into the trees. I was out in my one man canoe that I personalized a bit. You can see the adjustable foot rests I installed. They sure do help. I was using my ultralight with an 1/8oz Beatle Spin on my ultralight with 4lb fluorocarbon line.

Now I just need to figure out how to do the YouTube tags.
