Help me impress my father in law

Post by coolnik » Wed Aug 13, 2014 5:29 pm

Hello fishing enthusiasts,

I have not had a chance to fish ever in my life, but looks like I will soon! :)

My father in law is visiting us from overseas and is a great fishing nut. He usually catches a 4-5 trouts in one go from a lake near he lives. Now since he is visiting, he wants to sample over next few weeks some Ozzie fish that he has caught himself.

So collective wisdom, please help me impress him by suggesting a few places where I can take him. Rainbow trout would be great, but any fish would work at this stage.

We live near Mt Waverley and can travel for 1-2 hours. We have already bought the license for him. Today he went solo using public transport to St Kilda, but not sure whether he will be lucky!

Ta!

Rowville lakes maybe pretty close to ya, or sugarloaf, Eildon, the yarra.. cant fish for trout in the rivers for another 3 weeks tho mate so if he wants trout you have to fish the lakes for them..

lake wendouree in Ballarat is a good spot for trout this time of year, it has slowed down a bit over the last few weeks but some nice trout are still being caught. Also heaps of non fishing related things to do, its about an hour and a half from mt waverly.
